An open forum for artists of any creative discipline to perform or talk about their work. Whether you’re a poet, dancer, or painter, the floor is yours (sign up sheet on the door).

Unlike traditional open mics, the Open Floor provides people with the opportunity to share their practice through any creative medium - visual art included. For example, photographers have the opportunity to showcase their work on the studio space's projector during designated slots.

Open Floor is a carefully curated environment emphasising the power of connections and confidence-building in creative practice.

About the organisers

Lara and Caleb are Co-founders of I L X I A H, a creative laboratory most known for their sold out performance events "A Night With Lara and Caleb". I L X I A H encourages artistic confidence for our community through: providing space to try out and share original material, promote networking sideways and connect with likeminded people…and eat Queen K’s jollof rice from time to time ;)

  • Lara Grace Ilori is an actor (RADA 2020 Grad) and writer (Soho Theatre Writer’s Lab 22/23) from Streatham, South London and is Nigerian.

    Lara is a storyteller, drawing influences from artists such as Nina Simone, Little Simz and aja monet, wanting to share human experiences through various creative mediums not exclusive to acting and writing. For instance, a year after studying at RADA, Lara was accepted on a Masters programme at UCL to study MSc Social and Cultural Anthropology at UCL (2023). This led to her interest in directing documentaries, with Lara developing her community leadership and poetry practice as a Cultural Leader with Poetic Unity whilst based at Black Cultural Archives.

    To develop her artistic practice further, Lara is Co-founder of creative company I L X I A H, home of live performance and creative events A Night With Lara and Caleb, The Meeting Point and Open Floor.

    This year, catch Lara making her TV acting debut in Channel 4 series Big Mood, starring Nicola Coughlan (Bridgerton) and Lydia West (It's A Sin).

  • Caleb Obediah, a versatile artist, navigates the worlds of acting, music, and creative production. Best known for portraying Lord Cho in Netflix's Bridgerton, he's set to reprise his role in the upcoming Season 3.

    A RADA-trained actor, beyond the stage and screen, he contributes to humanitarian theater with Wind-Up Penguin in the world, impacting the lives of children in need. In addition to his acting pursuits, Caleb co-produces the cherished event 'A Night with Caleb and Lara,' showcasing musical and spoken word talents of the community. Caleb also delves into podcasting, singing, and music production, currently crafting his own EP. Caleb Obediah's artistic journey extends beyond performance, reflecting a passion for enriching lives through diverse creative expressions.
