Immerse yourself in the timeless beauty of classical masterpieces from the Romantic Era's greatest composers.

Four internationally acclaimed musicians unite for a special evening of classical music written by the Romantic Era's greatest composers. From Webern's achingly beautiful Langsamersatz, written for his new fiance, to the fiery drama of Schubert's Death and the Maiden, this string quartet promises a musical odyssey through life's most profound moments.

With almost two decades' worth of collaboration, the musicians' unique styles and natural abilites to connect with audiences will breathe new life into these timeless Romantic masterpieces.

An informal Q&A will be held before the interval. To inspire fresh enjoyment and interest, please feel free to ask the artists questions about themselves, the music performed and their careers as musicians!

About the Artists

Zahra Benyounes, Emily Holland, Sara Roberts and Jessie Ann Richardson (members of the Benyounes, Piatti and London Piano Quartets) have been performing together in various guises over the last 15 years, delighting audiences with their perfect synergy and musical interpretations. Their wide ranging experience has brought them to international chamber music festivals, some of the finest concert halls across the world, and collaborations with internatonal artists such as Max Richter and Michael Kiwanuka.

Zahra plays on a 1682 Nicolo Amati kindly made available to her from the Boucher Trust. Sara plays on a beautiful French viola circa 1880. Jessie plays a Celoniatus Cello made made in 1741 around Turin, kindly lent to her by a patron of the Beares International Violin Society.

  • Zahra Benyounes - prize-winning violinist and chamber musician.

    Zahra is a regular leader of the pioneering Chineke! Orchestra - leading the 2021 BBC Proms and performing alongside Skip Marley and Grace Kelly. A busy recording artist she appears on the soundtracks to the Disney movie Chevalier, Barbie, The Matrix Resurrections and Wakanda Forever, recorded at Abbey Road Studios.

    She is a member of the 12 Ensemble – London's trail blazing un-conducted string orchestra, and performs with John Wilson’s award winning Sinfonia of London.

  • Emily Holland has performed at some of the world's most prestigious venues including Wigmore Hall and Het Concertgebouw as 2nd violinist of the Piatti Quartet. As well as performing classical chamber music at the highest level, she is in demand as a session musician. Highlights include recording for Taylor Swift, performing with Goldfrapp at the Royal Albert Hall and appearing on the soundtrack of the recent DC blockbuster The Flash.

  • Violist Sara Roberts, founding member of the Benyounes Quartet, is in demand as a recording, chamber and orchestral musician, and has held a posititon in London's Philharmonia Orchestra since 2021. She studied with Isobel Charisius of the Alban Berg Quartet and later Gabor Takacs-Nagy with the Benyounes.

  • Multiple prize-winner and seasoned recording artist French cellist Jessie Ann Richardson has thrilled audiences with her virtuoso and sensitive musicianship. A founding member of the Piatti Quartet, she is regularly heard on BBC Radio 3. Jessie performs with the London Symphony Orchestra and is a longstanding member of the John Wilson Orchestra.
